Updated hotel links
July 20, 2008
If you still haven’t made your hotel reservations yet, this link will take you to the Hilton Garden Inn group reservation page
And we still have rooms available at the Extended Stay Deluxe in Hillsboro.
Please let us know if you’re having any problems with the link or need help with hotel reservations. Thanks!
So you learn a lot about a company’s business strategy by registering with them. Apparently, Crate & Barrel’s aggressive plan for market domination is to ship everything in really big boxes. I mean, a whole lot of boxes. For instance, we registered for some nesting storage totes. By definition, they fit inside each other. But each one came in its own separate box. Wrapped in bubble wrap. Of course, as a member of the frequent relocator’s club, I can’t bear to part with all of these boxes, so we will be shilling for C&B every time we move. How savvy.
Accomodations

Apparently, there is a major soccer tournament going on the same weekend of our wedding, thus making our group reservation choices somewhat limited (the soccer tournament officials apparently didn’t consult with us first : ) I’ve also heard from some that the places we listed on our blog have already been booked. Our travel info site has now been updated. Check it out!
Two Months to Go
June 23, 2008
Today is June 23rd, meaning that we have two more months to go before the big day. RSVPs are coming in, and yet we still have lots to do (which probably should have been done earlier). This wedding planning business is not an exact science : ) Case in point, Elyssa and I would like to invite all to a get together on Thursday night, location TBD. If you happen to be in town at that time, you’re more than welcome to join us. Shoot us an email if you’ll be around and would like to come.
Our first RSVP’s!!
June 16, 2008
We got our first RSVP cards today. So far we have five people attending. I would totally say who they were and give them a shout out for being so prompt. Except I don’t know who these people are. Why, do you ask? Well, because no one wrote their names on the cards. On the blank lines.
See, I read in one of the many bridal books I received that you’re supposed to number the back of the RSVP cards in pencil, and enter the numbers into a spreadsheet so in case something goes awry in the response process, you know whose cards you get back. I totally meant to do that, all the way up until we mailed the invites.
So I accept partial blame for this. But those blank lines? Totally for names. So welcome, party of two. We look forward to celebrating with you. Just don’t expect anything personalized.
I hate you, USPS

Mailing invitations is one of the treasured wedding prep activities. The best part: picking out the stamps. Oh, the wonder of the different specialty stamps! Hearts, flowers, you name it! Everyone will notice that you took special effort to get stamps that coordinate with your envelopes.
Except, apparently, if you are in the midst of a price change.
1st class letter rate as of May 12: $0.42
issue date of specialty $0.42 stamps: June 10
So, trust me, these stamps would have been awesome.
They would have totally coordinated with our watermelon envelopes. I know this. So when you receive your lovingly forever-stamped invite, know that you are holding crushed dreams in your hands.
13 weeks to go!
May 23, 2008
So here we go–only a few weeks left. Time is passing really fast for us. This week we tasted cake (the best wedding activity so far). Luckily the bakery will make a replica top tier of our cake for each anniversary for $20, so we don’t have to eat year old pastry (yuck!).
Also, hopefully I will be able to try on some dresses this weekend–dragging my feet on this issue is not really going to pay off.
